2018 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival – Day 5 (Just a snack, really)

This post will pick up after our Sunday Brunch with Tiffani Thiessen on 9/16/18. You can read all about that here.

We weren’t quite full at the event’s conclusion, so we hit up a few Food & Wine booths to finish the job.

Stop #1 – Hawai’i

Passion Fruit Cheesecake

Passion Fruit Cheesecake

This was very good, continuing the trend of tasty cheesecakes at Food & Wine. I definitely prefer the Maple Bourbon Boursin Cheesecake over at the Cheese Studio, though the macademia nuts here add a really nice crunch. It may only be the second best cheesecake at the festival, but it’s still a winner.

Stop #2 – Wine & Dine Studio

Butternut Squash Ravioli

Butternut Squash Ravioli

This was kind of bland for me, though it got a bit better with each bite. Who knows, if there had been 10 ravioli it may have been my favorite item of the festival by the time I finished them. I didn’t really pick up on the flavor of the vinaigrette, but I enjoyed both the parmesan and pumpkin seeds.

Score: 7.0 out of 10

Stop #3 – Flavors from Fire

Piggy Wings

Piggy Wings

These were very flavorful, though a bit dry. I think my batch must have been overcooked, because most people are raving about how tender these are. But even dry, that korean bbq sauce is on point.

Smoked Corned Beef

Smoked Corned Beef

I had a serious love/hate relationship with this dish last year. The first time I ordered it, it was phenomenal. The second and third time I ordered it, it was borderline inedible. So it was with great trepidation that I ordered this.

It was quite good. I didn’t get very much corned beef, but what little I did get was tender, smokey, and delicious. The fondue and chips were very good as well. If I’d had about twice as much meat, this would be on my must have list.

Score: 8.0 out of 10

Stop #4 – Light Lab

Phosphorescent Phlight

I could pretend that we stopped here for dessert, but we really came for the glow cubes. We each took a drink or two of each flavor and thru the rest away. Just like the phreeze that was initially offered, the flavors in this flight are just overwhelmingly sweet but without any interesting flavor.

Score: 3.0 out of 10

That’s it for day 5! Nothing quite made my Must Have list, and only one kinda sorta repeat item made my Must Not list.

Must Not
Phosphorescent Phlight (unless you just want the glow cubes!)

As always, thanks for reading! We’ll be back real soon.
