2018 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival – Day 6

After the Toy Story Land Annual Passholder Play Time event that we attended on 9-18-18, which you can read about here, we did some Food & Wine snacking. What a shock, I know!

I’ve decided not to bore you any more by doing full reviews for items that I’ve already reviewed previously. I’ll just mention here that in addition to the items in this post, we also repeated the following dishes (anything notable will be in parenthesis):

Ropa Vieja Empanada – Islands of the Caribbean (Just as good as before.)
Coconut Rice Pudding – Mexico (Rice was softer this time.)
Maple Bourbon Boursin Cheesecake – Cheese Studio (It was served colder this time, and as a result was even better than before!)
Frozen Mimosa – Shimmering Sips (Still can’t taste the alcohol, but it’s delicious anyway.)

So from here on out this will just be the new stuff!

First up, Islands of the Caribbean!

The Caribbean booth is on point this year. Just like the empanada, and to a lesser extent the quesito, this was very good. It was much spicier than I expected, and quite tender and juicy. I’ll be getting this again.

Up next, Thailand!

Marinated Chicken

Marinated Chicken

This was a huge portion of tender chicken that tasted like it had been cooked in peanut butter. It was actually pretty good, but would have been better if the peanut flavor had been a bit subtler.

Time to hit up China!

Beijing Roasted Duck Bao Bun

I’m a big duck fan, but this was disappointing. The duck was very dry and almost hard. And the texture of the crunchies didn’t work for me either.

France is next.

La Passion Martini Slush

La Passion Martini Slush

I know I’m in the minority here, but I don’t care for this drink. Every year I see about 12,000 women walking around with one of these, and they make it look so good. So I try one every single year, and regret it every time. I think I must not like the flavor of passion fruit, as I don’t like the POG juice served throughout Disney World either. Or maybe you just have to be a woman to enjoy it? My wife hardly ever drinks, and she kind of liked this.

Score: 6.0 out of 10

And now for our first Joffrey’s offering of the year.

Fast Lane

Fast Lane

This came from the Joffrey’s cart in Future World East. You pass by it every time you walk to the Festival Center. And I don’t know about you, but I’m going to continue passing by it. The Brown Jug Bourbon Cream is tasty on it’s own, but it’s wasted in this bland, oddly not very cold, frozen cappuccino.

Score: 5.5 out of 10

There was one Must Have item today, and nothing so awful that it makes the Must Not list.

Thanks for reading. We’ll be back soon with more Festival updates, as well as another Sunday Brunch event!
